Sample Itineraries
Sample Itineraries
Redding is located in the heart of some of the most beautiful country in the State and offers a wide range of recreational opportunities from extreme adventure to quiet and relaxing journeys. For the very best travel experience, we have developed the following sample itineraries to help you plan the perfect vacation full of action, full of rest, or including a little of both!
Since Redding is the perfect base camp for exploring far northern California, we have expanded these itineraries to not only include the City of Redding, but also the parks, scenic drives, and attractions that surround Redding. Many of these attractions--like Burney Falls and Lassen Volcanic National Park--are an easy one hour drive from Redding, allowing you to return in time to catch a show at the famed Cascade Theatre or take an evening stroll across the Sundial Bridge.
Art and Culture
Redding boasts an extensive art-in-public-places program. From a rotating art exhibit inside City Hall to the spectacular Sundial Bridge and various exhibits at Turtle Bay Museum, you are sure to find something that strikes your interest.
History and Geography
Should you take the tour to the East of Redding, or try the one to the North? Why not enjoy both during a short, weekend visit!
East: Historic Monolith, Turtle Bay Museum, Shasta State Historic Park, Joss House, JJ Jackson Museum & History Center, Camden House, and Whiskeytown Visitor Center.
North: Shasta Dam, Castle Crags, Dunsmuir Museum, Mt. Shasta, Heritage Junction of McCloud Historic Center, and Burney Falls.
Outdoor Adventure
Redding is surrounded on three sides by millions of acres of public land, making it a great place to stay while exploring the hotbed of Adventure Travel in California. Mountains, rivers, streams, lakes, and back country roads offer an endless supply of outdoor activities throughout the region. Experience everything from mild...to wild. The possible itineraries are endless. If you would like assistance preparing an itinerary specific to your needs, please contact the Visitors Bureau today!
