Area Information

There's more to California than palm trees and deserts!

Location: Redding is located at the extreme north end of the beautiful Sacramento Valley just 117 miles (2.5 hours) south of the Oregon border; 222 miles (3.5 hours) northeast of San Francisco; 150 miles (2.5 hours) east of Eureka; 200 miles (3.5 hours) west of Reno, NV; and 160 miles north of Sacramento (2.5 hours).

The Sacramento River runs swiftly at a cool 57 degrees right through the heart of this growing community creating a lush, visitor-friendly environment. Features include the nationally designated Sacramento River Trail which meanders for 12 miles along the shores of the river and is just a short walk from the Redding Convention Center, as well as the world-famous California icon, the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay. This glass-decked, pedestrian only footbridge is an actual working sundial--the largest bridge that is a sundial in the world!
