Home / Redding Weekend Roundup

Trying to figure out what to do during your weekend in Redding? No problem! With 12 state and national parks, museums, theaters, and a hopping downtown, there's always something going on here!

Friday:

Start your weekend off with Wildcard Brewing's Foodie Friday at the Tied House. From 5 to 8 p.m. Wildcard's Tied House will be serving up frothy pints of local brews, paired with good eats from local food truck vendors. Come downtown to the Tied House and find your perfect pairing!

Once you've had your fill at the Tied House, head over to the Cascade Theatre for some laughs and see Emmy-nominated actor Rob Schneider live for a night of hilarious stand up comedy! Or if music's more your style head over to Kelly's Pub and Wine Bar or The Dip for outstanding concerts and drinks.

Saturday:

If there's one thing Redding has in abundance, it's national and state parks, and they never disappoint when it comes to enthralling their visitors!

At Lassen Volcanic National Park spend the day enjoying the annual Art and Wine of Lassen festival. Taste local wines and brews, purchase pieces from local artisits, and enjoy live music, all with the gorgeous view of Lassen Volcanic National Park in the background.

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and Shasta State Historic Park are kicking off Fall with their annual Harvest Festival. First, visit the gold rush ruins of Shasta State Historic Park and make corn husk dolls, play pioneer games, and see a blacksmith demonstration. Then, head on over to Whiskeytown for games, crafts, refreshments, orchard tours, and live fiddle music at the historic Camden House. Don't forget to come back in the evening for Whiskeytown's Star Party - with no urban light pollution, powerful telescopes, and Shasta Astronomy Club experts there to help you out, it's truly a sight to see!

Finally, head on over to William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park for their annual Adobe Day. Explore this historic ranch while enjoying hands-on pioneer crafts and activities and listening to live period music.

Once you've dirtied your boots in the park, head back in to town to cool off with a drink at Wildcard Brewing Co. While you're there, don't forget to check out their Brewhouse Tour and get a cool behind the scenes look about the making of craft beer. Don't bother with a reservation - everyone's welcome here!

Sunday:

Start your Sunday off right with Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga. Enjoy a fun, active yoga program, all while taking in the serene beauty of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. All levels of experience are welcome, and classes start with a short stand up paddleboard lesson, so you'll be floating like a pro in no time!

Head back from the lake and wrap up your weekend with a show - legendary reggae group The Wailers brings their rollicking show to the Cascade Theatre, and Riverfront Playhouse will have you rolling in the aisle laughing with Two On The Aisle, Three In A Van*. Or visit natures' stage with Lassen Volcanic National Parks Astronomy Program, and see the wonders of space in one of the last few sanctuaries of natural darkness.
