Youth Programs
Numerous suppliers offer youth programs in Redding throughout the year. From ‘Little Explorers' activities at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, to Junior Ranger programs at our National and State Parks, and a comprehensive activity guide created by Redding's own Recreation Department, there are an abundance of activities to choose from.
Turtle Bay Exploration Park features a ‘Little Explorers' program every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. The program includes activities and stories for 2 - 5 year olds and is free with park admission. More than 14,000 students from throughout northern California, western Nevada, and southern Oregon also visited Turtle Bay in 2008/09 to learn about the Sacramento River region, science, art, history, forestry, and horticulture.
Redding Recreation develops a biannual seasonal Activity Guide that offers an abundance of programs for all ages. Contact them directly for more information, or visit www.reddingrecreation.org
Lassen Volcanic National Park and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area offer ranger-led Junior Ranger programs for children 7 - 12 and ranger-led talks for the entire family during summer months.
Barnes & Noble Booksellers offers Junior and Toddler Storytime throughout the year. Check out their online calendar of events for more information.
