REDDING AREA FAVORITES
The Sundial Bridge
The first bridge of its kind in the United States and the largest sundial in the world, this glass decked pedestrian-only footbridge is must-see California icon. The bridge is fully suspended across the cold and swift Sacramento River, and provides a great place for wildlife viewing.
Turtle Bay Exploration Park
The heart of the Turtle Bay experience is its museum which features world-class exhibits. The park is also home to the McConnell Arboretum and Gardens, animal exhibits and shows, a visitor center, restaurant, and Wings of Summer aviary and butterfly house.
Shasta Lake
California's largest lake, Shasta boasts the largest commercial houseboat fleet in the world. The lake offers abundant recreational activities including boating, fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and wildlife watching and also offers two prominent attractions: Shasta Dam and Lake Shasta Caverns.
Lassen Volcanic National Park
The scenic byway that passes through Lassen Park is an All American Road. You'll see why when you visit this geographically diverse national park that is home to geothermal features, all four types of volcano, and all types of naturally occurring lakes.
Burney Falls
The 129-foot waterfall that is the centerpiece of the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is not the highest or largest waterfall in the state, but is possibly the most beautiful. The waterfall, which is fed by underground springs flows at 100 million gallons a day.
Mt. Shasta
At 14,161 feet, snow-capped Mt. Shasta dominates the northern skies as you journey through the region. The mountain is popular with winter recreation enthusiasts, serious mountain climbers, and spiritualists who believe Lemurians with special powers live inside the mountain.
