Culture and Heritage

culture and heritageCultural heritage tourism means traveling to experience the places and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the area you are visiting. It can include the arts, language, museums, heritage, crafts, public lands, architecture, events, agriculture, watchable wildlife, and scenic byways of a region.

Redding offers a variety of cultural and heritage attractions and events for just about anyone. Enjoy a fascinating journey through a volcanic landscape as you learn about the area's rich history; explore the very rocks and caves where a small band of Modoc Indians held off US Army forces numbering ten times their strength for five months; participate in the west's largest classic car show; or stroll the banks of the Sacramento River along the National Recreation Trail to take in beautiful art-in-public-places, glimpse wildlife, and learn about the gold rush history of the area.
