Bright Lights, Christmas Delights

By | 12/03/2013

Per the Active 20-30 Club of Redding, "the Redding Lighted Christmas Parade is a tradition that dates back to 1982. The first parade was organized by the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce and was originally held on Park Marina Drive. After a few years, the parade route was moved to Downtown Redding, where it remains today. Each year for the past three decades, the parade has entertained thousands of families and children on the first Saturday evening of December."

This year's parade is organized by the Active 20-30 Club of Redding, a local service organization of young professionals which provides young adults with an opportunity for personal growth, friendships, and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the special needs of children in their community. "Bright Lights, Christmas Delights" will roll through downtown Redding on December 7th. This rain or shine event always ushers in the Christmas season with plenty of music, community, and of course: lights!

The parade furthers the club's efforts to improve the quality of life for children in the Redding area. Case in point? Rule #1 for floats entering the parade and competition: THERE IS ONLY 1 SANTA CLAUS! Gotta keep the magic alive for the kids! Santa is on the very first float, kicking off the festivities on the sponsoring organization's float. So bundle up, fill your thermos, and join everyone downtown for this special night, starting at 6pm. For parade route and details, visit www.reddingchristmasparade.com.
