Redding Feels The Love

By | 02/14/2014

So you're in Redding for Valentine's Day, huh? As if there wasn't enough pressure on this sugar-coated holiday, now you have to travel and romance at the same time! Luckily, Redding loves love and has plenty of options for you and your cuddlemuffin. For details on any of the following, visit our EVENTS page.

Maybe your beloved is a classic who prefers their Valentine's to come in two flavors: chocolate and grape. Well, a little more sophisticated than that... try the all-weekend-long Chocolate and Wine Indulgence at Whispering Oaks Winery. $15/person lets you savor three wines paired with divine treats from great local vendors: Sweetspot and Pardon My French Bakery. On Friday and Saturday, enjoy dinner, chocolate, wine, and music at Anselmo Vineyards' St. Valentine's Dinner With The Winemaker. Your evening will begin with our winemaker Chanda Miller in the Anselmo's cave, where you will experience a barrel tasting with chocolate pairings. Next, enjoy an unforgettable meal prepared by Chef Jon while a harpist (Friday) or singer (Saturday) delights.

If you're cutting calories and looking for a laugh this Valentine's Day, make sure you get tickets to the romantic comedy "2 Across", at Riverfront Playhouse, closing on Saturday the 15th. See if a single BART ride and the New York Times crossword puzzle can spell out a connection for two middle aged strangers in this charming and witty play. Love is also onstage on the 15th at the Cascade Theatre as the North State Symphony presents "An Embrace of Romantic Masters", telling the story of Romeo & Juliet through the music inspired by the Shakespearean classic.

If modern music gets your honey's heart beating, choose from options at Maxwell's Downtown Eatery and Vintage Wine Bar & Restaurant. Maxwell's is offering a good ol' fashioned hoedown! The Buckhorn Mountain Stompers will be performing and Maxwell's signature selection of craft beers and great food will be available to fuel you and your dance partner for the entire memorable evening. Across the promenade, Vintage lives up to its reputation for excellent live music by hosting Beth Wood for two seatings. Enjoy a great meal and glass of wine with the one you love, while Beth's exceptional musicianship, crafty songwriting, and commanding stage presence make this Valentine's evening the one to beat for years to come.

Redding also has bakeries, florists, wineries, and scenic views a'plenty! Enjoy your loved ones and Happy Valentine's Day!
