Wizard of Oz at Cascade Theatre

By | 01/27/2014

Downtown Redding- with its historical buildings- has its share of red brick, there's even some art deco... But this Spring will see plenty of yellow brick, emerald, and ruby at the historic Cascade Theatre when The Wizard of Oz takes the stage! Director Jana Pulcini-Leard and her team of professional local talents and artists will bring the beloved classic to life in a way only they can. Previous successes by Pulcini-Leard at the Cascade include the annual Christmas extravaganza, Fiddler On The Roof, The Sound of Music, and Hairspray, so she and her company are no strangers to tapping into the stories and songs audiences love.

After holding auditions last fall, the cast, company, and production crew have begun hammering together sets and dance steps, no doubt perfecting that signature group-skip-down-the-road-while-singing-in-harmony thing. The munchkins are played by a different kind of munchkin- children- and even the role of Toto was subject to auditions, with Red Bluff-native rescue pup Ebby ultimately proving his prowess in pitch, choreography, and of course willingness to hang out in a basket.

The Wizard of Oz will run for 9 weekend performances, March 28-April 6th. Tickets are available
