A Sunday Drive Any Day of the Week

Redding is surrounded on three sides by millions of acres of public land. Less than an hour north, east, or west will have you driving through dense forests where wild rivers and streams run year-round, providing recreation for avid fisherman, rafting enthusiasts, and even gold panning prospectors. Small towns and communities dot the landscape, providing rich historic experiences; and the sharp contrast between rough, black basalt, smooth craggy granite, and colorful limestone provide an interesting surprise around every corner.

This is far northern California, home of one of only 27 All American Roads in the Nation! Three brochures offer a variety of driving experiences from paved, scenic byways, to unpaved backcountry roads--where your SUV will get a little dirty but not scratched!
