Take a Stroll Around Redding

The wide open outdoor spaces of mountains and river rapids are a huge part of Redding’s unique offerings, but there are also plenty of beautiful parks and gardens to enjoy right in the heart of downtown Redding. Many parks lining the Sacramento River are equipped with playgrounds and provide family fun for all ages. Warm up with a lap on a paved trail around a scenic lake in the morning before heading for steeper peaks, or enjoy a day of relaxing outside in a scenic garden. The sun shines nearly nonstop in all of our outdoor areas!

Parks for Frolicking and Fun

Redding is dotted with easily accessible parks that provide playgrounds and facilities for outdoor recreation. Caldwell Park features skating areas as well as play areas for small children alongside picnic areas and playgrounds that make for a perfect family outing. Kids will love the erupting water volcano at Enterprise Park, and in the summer months, there is a public splash pad that operates for free.

Parks Along the Water

Being on the water is great, but appreciating it from the riverbanks and storefronts can be just as appealing. Over at Mary Lake Park, the man-made lake provides outdoor fun for all ages and abilities to stroll and spot wildlife. Cascade Park, along the river, even includes a dirtbike trail. Stop for some alfresco dining with Sacramento River views at Kutras Park. Visitors will find picture-perfect scenery near Downtown Redding at Lake Redding Park.

Redding’s Local Natural Oases

Stop and smell the roses — literally. See what’s in bloom while wandering some of Redding’s most beautiful gardens. Clover Creek Preserve offers a little slice of nature along its paved trails. The McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens provides an escape into nature, located in Turtle Bay Exploration Park. Mix art and nature together at Art Exhibit and Sculpture Park at City Hall downtown.
